This national study involved the 18 states and the District of Columbia that had passed medical marijuana laws as of December 2013.  The authors studied the period between 2005 and 2011 and found that calls to poison control centers in these states increased more than 30 percent per year.  Call rates in non-legal Medical Marijuana states did not change.  Neurologic effects were the most commonly treated.
